Last updated 2 November 2026
The short version
- Wind Client is free to use for your own personal play
- You need your own copy of Minecraft and must follow Mojang's and Microsoft's rules
- Mods, modpacks and servers come from other people. We don't check them and aren't responsible for them
- Wind Client is provided as it is. Keep backups of your worlds
- Wind Client is not an official Minecraft product and isn't connected to Mojang or Microsoft
This summary is only a guide. The full terms below are what apply.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
These terms are an agreement between you and the team behind Wind Client ("Wind Client", "we", "us"). They cover the Wind Client launcher, its in-game menus mod, its online features and the website at windclient.com (together, the "Service").
By downloading, installing or using the Service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you and is responsible for your use of the Service.
2. Minecraft, Mojang and Microsoft
Wind Client is not an official Minecraft product. It is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Synergies AB. We are solely responsible for Wind Client.
Wind Client does not sell, include or give you Minecraft. To play, you need a Minecraft: Java Edition licence on a Microsoft account. When you play through Wind Client you are still bound by the Minecraft End User License Agreement, the Microsoft Services Agreement and the rules of any server you join. Game files are downloaded directly from Mojang's servers to your computer.
Signing in to your Microsoft account happens on Microsoft's own sign-in page. We never see your Microsoft password.
3. Your licence to use Wind Client
We give you a personal, free, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use Wind Client on computers you own or control, for your own non-commercial use.
You may not:
- sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute Wind Client, or offer modified copies of it, without our written permission
- remove or change any copyright, trademark or "not an official Minecraft product" notices
- present Wind Client, or anything made with it, as official Minecraft, Mojang or Microsoft content
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble Wind Client, except where the law allows this regardless of these terms
4. Rules for using the Service
You agree not to use the Service to:
- break any law, or the rules of Minecraft, Mojang, Microsoft or any server
- attack, overload, scrape or try to get unauthorised access to our servers or anyone else's
- interfere with other people's use of the Service, or pretend to be someone else
- spread malware, or anything that infringes other people's rights
- get around rate limits, security features or bans
Offline accounts, where available, are for testing only and don't let you play Minecraft without a licence. Using them to get around Minecraft's licensing is not allowed.
5. Mods, modpacks, servers and other third-party content
Wind Client lets you find and install mods, modpacks, shaders and resource packs from Modrinth, install loaders such as Fabric and Forge, import instances from other launchers and join Minecraft servers. All of this content and these services are made and run by other people, not by us.
- We don't create, review or scan third-party files and can't promise they are safe, legal, working or free of viruses. You install them at your own risk, so keep your own antivirus and backups
- Each mod, pack and server has its own licence and rules, which you must follow. Mods and packs from Modrinth are also covered by Modrinth's terms
- Server names, icons, descriptions and player counts shown in Wind Client come from the servers themselves or from public status services. Showing a server doesn't mean we endorse or are connected with it
- Links to other websites are for convenience. We aren't responsible for their content or practices
To report content you think is illegal or infringes your rights, see our Copyright and trademarks page.
6. Cloud features
Wind Client stores some settings, your instance list, saved servers and your Minecraft account names online, so the launcher can keep them for you. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what is stored and why. Each install gets its own anonymous device key. Keep your computer secure, because anyone with access to it can use your Wind Client data.
We may limit how often the online features can be used to protect them from abuse.
7. Updates and changes to the Service
The installed version of Wind Client checks for updates and installs them automatically, so you get fixes and security improvements. The portable version does not update itself. We may add, change or remove features, or stop offering the Service, at any time. We'll try to give notice of big changes on our website or Discord.
8. Who owns what
Wind Client, its code, design, name and logo belong to us and are protected by copyright and other laws. These terms don't give you any rights to them other than the licence in section 3.
Minecraft and its assets belong to Mojang and Microsoft. Mods, packs and other third-party content belong to their creators. Your worlds, screenshots and settings stay yours.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them freely without owing you anything.
9. No warranty
Wind Client is free software provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be error-free, secure, always available, compatible with every version or mod, or that it won't affect your files. Things like mods, game updates and internet problems can break worlds or instances, so keep backups of anything you care about.
Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by contract under the law of the country where you live.
10. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data, lost worlds or progress, lost profits, or for anything caused by third-party content, servers or services, or by Mojang or Microsoft.
Because the Service is free, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to €50, as far as the law allows.
These limits don't apply to liability that can't legally be limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for intentional or grossly negligent conduct, or under mandatory product liability law.
11. Ending these terms
You can stop using Wind Client at any time by uninstalling it. You can ask us to delete your online data as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or block access to our online features for anyone who seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where we need to for legal or security reasons. Sections 5, 8, 9, 10 and 12 continue to apply after these terms end.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the member state of the European Union where Wind Client's publisher is established. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts of that country.
If you have a problem, please contact us first so we can try to sort it out. EU consumers can also use their national consumer advice services or an approved alternative dispute resolution body.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example when we add features or the law changes. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll give notice on our website, in the launcher or on Discord before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you don't agree with them, stop using the Service.
If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a part of these terms right away doesn't mean we give up the right to do so later. You can't transfer your rights under these terms to someone else. We may transfer ours to someone who takes over the Service.
